He and his wife, Maren Margarethe, began soaking coarse linen with linseed oil. This state of the art process resulted in water resistant clothing for workers at sea, and Helly Hansen was born. Helly Tech originated in 1980's has kept enthusiasts in the outdoors dry and comfortable by letting condensation and perspiration escape while keeping rain, wind and snow out.
